Everything from Broccoli to Muscle Imbalance and Mental Illness

Broccoli

We are going to speak about a lot of topics. Let’s start with Broccoli. If you didn’t know it broccoli could help stop cancer of the colon, breast and lungs. It contains minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals that help the body to cure itself. It has a sulfuric smell. Researchers say it contains sulforaphane that supports the body in producing more of it. Moreover, sulforaphane is an antioxidant that reduces inflammation.

Broccoli’s vitamin K helps the body in reducing clotting and regulating blood circulation around the heart. Vitamin K could also help the proteins that for bones and keep them strong.

Muscle Imbalance

People who run, or cycle, or swim and play soccer tend to have muscle imbalances because even though they get their heart rate up, they may not lift weights. So, they can have an imbalance in their butts, back and hips. The muscles that are strong in the legs are good. But if the arms aren’t strong, that’s when imbalances occur. When you sit in a chair for hours on end, muscle imbalance occurs.

Our muscles need to work together for daily movement. You need to keep them equally flexible and strong. Someone with strong chest muscles may feel pain in the back because that was not maintained strong. This is when you need to see a physical therapist.

The best exercise to see if you can do, is stand on one leg for 30 seconds and then do the other leg. I did this last night! This requires a strong butt, and the ability to balance.

Mental Illness

The jury is in, and researchers are saying that people with mental illness have be shown to be more susceptible to Covid and have worser symptoms. This mainly because many of these same people smoke and are stressed out. Stress has a bad effect on the immune system and fills the body with adrenaline and cortisol. Overall, these people are more susceptible to viruses. Smoking also causes worse lung health. Because of the stigma around mental health, these people may not seek care

People with mental illness who smoke and are stressed will be prone to hospitalizations and long Covid.
