Hopefully New Vaccines For a New Time

In the New York Times today was a story about the subvariants BA..4 and BA.5. and the fact that our current vaccines are may not work. After months of the Covid vaccines keeping death down in hospitals, the death rate is creeping up. Doctors blame the fact that many people did not get the second booster.

In fact it is estimated that 75% of those eligible for a second booster did not get one, and 50% of those vaccinated did not get any booster.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has asked drug manufacturers to make a new vaccine for the new types of Covid. Both Pfzer and Moderna have a vaccine closer to the Omicron variant. They both say a newer vaccine will not be available until about October 2022. It is very difficult to predict the variants evolution in order to stay on top of it. If a new vaccine comes out, please get it. No one wants to be in the hospital.
