COVID is Rising

Covid is rising across 31 states and people are dying. The Centers for Disease Control are collecting wastewater from different areas to check on infectious diseases.

Ohio is one of the States with high Covid-19.

As of August 2024, wastewater showed that in Cincinnati outbreaks topped 285 cases.

Here are some of the symptoms:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Muscle and body aches
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste and smell
  • Congestion, runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Cough
  • Fever and chills

Most people, if they get these symptoms can recover on their own. You can ask your doctor for Paxlovid. Masking is a preventative measure if you go and get food or walk around your home. You don’t want to get other people sick.

The CDC says cloth masking is the least protective. The most protective are N95 masks. But, wear what is comfortable around others and make sure it covers your nose and mouth.

It’s advised that you wash your hands a lot and use a tissue to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.

The CDC dropped it’s 5 day guidance to going about your usual activities when, for at minimum, 24 hours 2 conditions are met:

  • Your symptoms are improving overall,
  • You haven’t had a fever and aren’t relying on medicine to bring it down.

If those 2 conditions are met, in the following 24 hours you can return to school or work and see friends. But the CDC says you should mask up for the next 5 days so you do not spread the virus.

The new Covid vaccines are available, and everyone should get one.
